Wedding update - Vendors & Guest List
Back again with a wedding update! We have vendors, venues & a million little wheels turning! It seems like everyday I stir up some new idea of something I want, and then quickly drag my Mama & Drew onboard! We’re having the most fun with it all and June just can’t come soon enough- it’s going to be magical!
This month my parents spent a few weeks in Corolla, part beach/relaxing, part wedding planning and meeting with vendors! Since we’re getting married in a home, not a typical “venue”, nothing comes with it. What I mean is, with a wedding venue you’re given tables, chairs, plates, silverware, lighting, etc. With our plans, we have to arrange every little piece of that ourselves! It’s kind of crazy and has potential to be a total wreck if I forget anything, but I’m sort of obsessed with the challenge ?! and LOVE that this is so much of a project! I know, I know. Call me crazy!
Our Vendors!
While we were in Corolla we met with the rental company to pick out linens, my day-of coordinator to go over all the details thus far, and the caterer to tweak the menu. Everything went great, my day-of coordinator really understood my vision (besides trying to force my hand to do black table linens…just no) and we got a little bit of the day-of schedule down, which is really overwhelming to me so i’m grateful to have talked through it!
We also swung by the bakery and my parents taste tested their cake. It passed the test, flying colors! Since we live too far to travel right back and forth, we hadn’t done any of this prior to booking them. So it was such a productive few weeks. I also stopped by our ceremony venue to see it for the first time, and chatted with the trolly company to solidify the transportation - and SAW the trolly!!! YES!
Last, and certainly least, my hair & makeup trial. What a horror story! Not going to bore you with the details but in summery- they scheduled my appointment, and then when I got there they said they didn’t have enough time to “go all out”. They “played with it” because they felt bad just sending me home (even though I kept saying no thank you), I hated it (totally not what I asked for!), and then they charged us for a full price hair trial! We ended up calling that day and canceling our contract with them for the wedding. Not only was I unhappy with the unfair charge, but I SO hated my hair and couldn’t trust all us girls would feel good on the wedding day. So now, i’m on the hunt again for a new H&MU team!

Guest List Update!
With the drastic concept switch from near home to a destination wedding, there were soo many things to take into account. Obviously having people surrounding us on our wedding day is so important to Drew and I, but both being so close to our families made it an easy decision to limit the guest lists to family, with the exception of our 2 best friends! After spreadsheets being sent back and forth, we decided we’d rather treat everyone invited to a special week than have an extensive guest list and have each event be invitation specific. Both Drew and I’s families are inviting roughly 30 guests, with the total headcount being under 70. Drew has a lot of aunts, uncles, cousins who he’s close to, and we’ve invited all of my “aunts” and “uncles” who are like family to us - we only have 3 biological extended family members! I didn’t go into this planning process thinking I wanted a small/intimate wedding, but now that it’s happening I am IN LOVE! The possibilities are endless!
The wedding house is oceanfront in a reserve called Pine Island, which is basically a strip of ~10 oceanfront houses. While the reception (amongst other events - announced soon!) will be at our house, we’ll also be hosting our family! It’s going to be such a fun week having everyone in the same house I can hardly wait! Drew’s family is renting the large home 2 properties over, and hosting their side of the family there. So far, I don’t think it could get any better. Don’t pinch me!
Check in when there’s more to share!
LOVE,
Jaime
