Wedding update - Custom Save the Date Maps

I don’t think I’m allowed to say this is the best blog post I’ve ever written since it’s not about my fiancé… It’s about paper. BUT, without a doubt, the prettiest paper i’ve ever seen! I’m in disbelief that I get to work with Emily at Feathered Heart Prints to create the most elegant, yet unique & fun Save the Dates to send out to our families!

When first deciding on STDs, I chose a simple, elegant (and affordable) design online. Definitely more basic and boring, but I thought they were sweet! Drew, however, was very stuck on how “boring” they were and insisted on one of the trendy styles of save the date cards with a photo of the two of us. That was a hard no from me. Going into wedding planning, there were things in the back of my mind I just knew I was not going to do- and a trendy save the date (or any stationary!) was just not happening.

Because of his utter disappointment in the announcements I picked out, I went searching for something with a little “fun” to it, to satisfy his itch. Fortunately/unfortunately I stumbled upon Feathered Heart Prints and her amazing custom STD maps! I say unfortunately only because it was the completely opposite direction from the simple, easy, one-stop-shop cards I was set on 30 minutes earlier!

Emily offers 2 types of custom STD map- digital and watercolor. Being a sucker for the classic look and, I mean duh, I couldn’t resist the watercolor; and surprise cough cough not — Drew was OBSESSED. When the man is super invested in an element of the wedding, do it his way! Haha. The project is an investment, but in my opinion if it’s worth it to you, then it’’s worth it.

So Emily & I embarked on a several week project together creating Drew and I’s perfect watercolor save the dates! I couldn’t ask for anything more. The watercolor map is even done geographically to scale- such a sweet touch to make it even more significant. We went through several questionnaires and rounds of edits. At the beginning we got to choose however many locations we wanted painted (with their addresses), and Emily mapped it all out. We chose some of the landmarks/locations on the island that Drew & I love, or places that have significance to the wedding week (eep!)

Another fun addition was my engagement ring in the top right. In what world would I ever have my ring painted?! Probably never! Had to take advantage! Haha. I adore our save the dates and will treasure them forever- thank you thank you thank you Emily for being so patient with me through the process and having an abundance of talent that never gives out! Can’t wait to work together again SOON ;)

LOVE,

Jaime
