The Ceremony
Our ceremony! The most emotional hour of our lives. I’ve always said I was going to cry, and wow I am on brand! Drew & I were both borderline sobbing the entire ceremony- from walking down the isle, my dad giving me away, to exchanging out personal vows. I made sure to walk down the isle hanky in-hand, and boy did I need it! The hanky was my “something old”- a gift from Drew’s Grandma at my shower the morning before. It’s a Meininger family heirloom and it’s priceless that she handed it down to me for our wedding day. I tied it around my bouquet and took it off when I handed my flowers over to my maid of honor.
We got married at the Corolla Chapel in Corolla, NC by my Dad’s childhood best friend, who’s now a pastor. Him and his wife walked with us through premarital counseling and it was really special to share that with a couple who knows my family better than most. And of course through that, got to know Drew’s family as well, which was a sparkly cherry on top! There really weren’t any guests at our wedding we didn’t know on that level, though, which made it feel so intimate. Nothing was for show. Just Drew & I becoming one in front of everyone who loves us so.
We decided to keep the chapel decor very simple. It’s already such a small space, plus it’s natural charm kind of did the decorating in my opinion! I loved how classic it was. We did bows on the front and back 4 pews, and 2 large urns at the alter with flowers on the candle table. Paige at Flower Girls OBX did all our flowers with little direction from me besides “white with greenery” and I was simply pleased with it all! My Aunt make mine & my bridesmaids bouquets, for a spew of reasons, one being that a bouquet of fresh flowers would be too heavy for me to carry around (ha). I love having my bouquet forever, though— I plan on putting it on my vanity one day, when I have a vanity!
The flower toss exit was the funnest little detail I added on semi-last minute and these photos are everything! We ordered rose petals from our florist which were delivered in a big box, I got lace-y paper cones off of Amazon, and some aunts around the house stuffed them that morning. Worth!! It!!
Enjoy a peak into our special hour- where we officially became MR. & MRS. MEININGER!
LOVE,
Jaime
