Special Wedding Day Details

When your whole life revolves around your disability, that doesn’t just go away on your wedding day. I really had to evaluate each step of the process and think about whether it was going to be fun and comfortable for me.

When trying to decide on a “something blue” and also find the perfect all white patch for my G tube, my mom had the brilliant idea to combine the two and create something so special! I loved this little piece of my bridal details. I had it personalized by Adorabelly Designs - where I usually get my patches. With the patch turning out so cute, I asked our photographer, Sarah, to take a picture of my stomach. Weird out of context, but with my body seemingly getting more marked up every 3 years or so I wanted to remember what it looked like on the most important day of my life. That photo is so special to me,

So you’re getting married. And you’re solely tube fed (+ or - clear liquids by mouth). And you’re planning a wedding for your family, where everyone is going to be catered to- food, drinks, horderves. But what about you? Knowing the whole week would be difficult with food all around, we ordered a few tubs of italian ice from OBX Slush to keep in the freezer. I had a couple glasses at my bachelorette party, a scoop getting ready the morning of my wedding (the most crucial day to keep that blood sugar up!) and had a different flavor served to me in martini glasses during each course served at dinner! It gave me something to do with my hands, was yummy, and gave me a little energy boost!

Hope this helps any of you feeding-tube-using, wedding-planning girls!

LOVE,

Jaime
