We’re Moving!
Finally time to share some big changes happening soon! At the beginning of the semester, Drew and I moved to Blacksburg while he finished up some pre requisites for PA school. He graduated in December, and we stayed in our current apartment while Drew worked in a local hospital to get patient care hours and shadow for his applications (you can read more about that here)! When and where he’ll be starting school next is pretty up in the air, but with applications going in over the next 4 months, the earliest his semester would begin is next spring (2023). And with that, we have a year for him to get more patient care hours— and to have some FUN before another chapter of schooling! So we’re getting out of Blacksburg and moving to our home-away-from-home!
Where we will be living…
We’re moving to Bethany Beach, Delaware! We’ve grown up spending summers there, and moved there together right after the wedding last June— the craziest summer! Drew started on beach patrol for Sea Colony, a private beach between North Bethany and Middlesex. We both had a blast. Him working, me sitting behind his stand sunning and climbing up the chair every once in a while to say hi haha! Last summer we lived a little further inland in the lifeguard house, but this time we have a townhouse to ourselves in Bethany Proper. It’s a bike ride to the nearest ocean, and a 2 minute drive to Sea Colony. We’re so excited for the new place and to be closer to some of our best friends who live in Middlesex and South Bethany!
When we are moving…
June 1st! ONE WEEK from today! This has been in the plans since before the winter holidays, and we are simply ecstatic that it’s coming up so soon. We’ll be staying in Blacksburg through Memorial Day weekend and then kicking off summer with packing up a big uhaul and making the long drive to Bethany. We’ve spent countless hours on the designs for the new house and I can’t wait to see it all together in real life! The house itself isn’t very pretty, but I have plans to revive it and they’re full of color and a classic-modern coastal vibe (without getting too corny “beach” looking)! Think: a cocktail of Roller Rabbit, Annie Selkie, and S&L galore!
So here’s the plan…
At this point you might be thinking “but where will you go in September?” and we’re actually staying in the Bethany townhouse for a full 12 months! Since we just don’t know where we’ll be moving next spring, it makes the most sense to chill in Bethany for the whole year. Drew will be on beach patrol again this summer, and in the fall he’ll get another patient care position at a hospital nearby. I’ll be finding a new team of doctors for maintenance while we’re there (just for little things- my full team is still at Hopkins) and my mom will, obviously, be coming back and forth for some sun-time as much as possible! Drew, Millie and I can’t wait to have a little more space, but mostly to kick off our favorite season and to host our friends for nights on the patio! I love Drew and this little life we’re navigating and decorating together so much.
