Our Christmasy Blacksburg apartment

And just like that, our tiny Blacksburg apartment is covered in red bows and i’m burning away at out kitchen spice scented Yankee Candle.

Deciding on a “Christmas scheme” was actually so hard- and i’m rarely indecisive! The blues in our house made me want to go with a blue and green velvet theme rather than red, but there’s just not enough of that out there. So until I break into the crafty Christmas decor business, red it is! I love red velvet bows because you can stick them on everything and it helps give the space more of an overall decorated feel by filling in the gaps. Since we don’t have a mantel we used the tv console as a makeshift, and I found some 8 inch wreaths that I hung on our mirrors (+ 1 on Millie’s crate) with velvet ribbon. With Drew’s graduation in a few weeks and both sides of our family coming down to hang out, I really want this to be the sweetest & coziest it can be!

Originally we weren’t even planning on having a tree, since our space is so limited. Once we started decorating I got so bummed not having somewhere to hang our ornaments. So I started looking around for “super skinny Christmas trees” and WHO KNEW but there are literally “slim” trees made for apartments! We opted for a flocked one, planning to use it for a bedroom in the future, once we start getting real trees. So glad we decided to get one, and got to hang our childhood ornaments on it- and a very special addition we picked up from the Cotton Gin the day after our wedding!

We’ve been turning on our Netflix fireplace and I’m using all the energy I can muster to keep the platters stocked with cookies. Can’t wait to have our parents here, and in the meantime Drew & I will be watching all the Santa Clause movies and brushing our teeth to Christmas music!

LOVE,

Jaime
