Serena & Lily Seaside Bar Cart (Finally!)
Bar Cart: Serena & Lily // Beaches coffee table book: Gray Malin // Oculus VR headset: Best Buy // Monthly calendar: Karen Adams // Whale candle stick holders: Amazon // Blue twisty candle sticks: Free People // Rattan pitcher: Mark & Graham // Monstera palm leaf: West Elm // Acrylic photo frames: Amazon // Gold shingle frame: Homegoods // TV console: Wayfair
So, SO excited to finally add this gorgeous rattan piece to our apartment! I’ve been eyeing this bar cart for years and have always dreamt of setting it up for display in our dining room. But, since we don’t drink alcohol, it wasn’t a “necessity” (but also, everything pretty is necessary, right?) It’s the perfect light-caramel shade of rattan, and the detail is immaculate! Drew and I couldn’t believe our eyes when we unwrapped it- the detail! But, I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Serena & Lily piece.
I have so many ideas for what we can do with this cart in the future. Bringing it out on the patio this summer for dinner parties, using it as drink-central for when we have the rest of Drew’s beach patrol over, setting it up for the holidays in the dining room…ah! The possibilities are endless with this versatile piece.
Like I said, I’ve been dreaming up plans for a bar cart for a few years, and we just happened to come to the perfect crossroads that made getting our own a necessity! For Drew’s birthday last month I got him the new Oculus VR set. It’s super fun and we play ‘Beat Saber’ almost every night while dinner is in the oven! I like that it’s a video game but doesn’t require any of those boy video game skills, so it’s fun for me too.
When we brought the new game home, we were kind of stumped where to put it. We love our TV console and I wouldn’t dare mess with the perfect accent set up, so I figured we should get some type of stool or table to set the VR up on next to our TV. I was originally looking for something more like an accent stool, so it’d be less involved — we really just needed something to put the Oculus on! Some of the accent stools we considered were this Acrylic Shearling Stool this Velvet Stool and this X-Base Stool.
Just not totally content with how the stools would look beside our console, aaaand figuring a stool comes close to the same price… I realized the Seaside Bar Cart would be the perfect landing place for the VR, and serve as an adorable accent in our little apartment (and every home to come)! With a purpose in mind, I somehow got Drew on board with the idea and we ordered the bar cart— and celebrated with sparkling grape!!
All items are linked above!
Staging it has been a little tricky, because it’s in our living room and it’s not a great place for a drink setup (that will have to hold off until our next move!) So instead, I opted for a cozier, decorative style. From the get-go a monstera palm was a must! I love the tropical detail it brings especially against the rattan. There was a little trial and error period finding a vase that worked with the stem height, but love how this cane pitcher worked out. I made sure to pull in some blues with the candles, a nautical touch with the whale candle stick holders, and of course I used this as the perfect opportunity to display our GM book! I love filling in gaps with personal touches, like some photos of Drew & I!
Worth the wait, but wish we hadn’t waited so long — can’t wait for all that’s to come for this new piece in our home!
