Started Weekly Iron & Hydration Infusions

The next chapter it seems.

After weeks of not tolerating clear liquids, pain and vomiting after drinking just a few sips of water, severe dry mouth, hair, and nostrils leading to nose bleeds, i’m finally starting IV hydration today. For now it’ll be done in the infusion center a few times a week. I can’t get these done at home because of my type of port.

Obviously this new treatment plan isn’t anything groundbreaking, but it makes me so sad that it’s come to this. For the last few years, drinks have been my saving grace. A huge part of my caloric intake, an energy boost when I needed it. But we’re just going to keep pushing forward and hopefully this helps me feel better! I’ll also be getting iron infusions weekly to help with my anemia.

My past experiences with consistent IV fluids hasn’t been awesome. When i was on IVIG I would retain 10+ lbs of fluid in a week that settled in my neck and back. This has also happened several times while I’ve been inpatient and on constant fluids. Please pray for no major retention! The upside, is I get to go back to my friends in the infusion center! Always an “up side”.

LOVE,

Jaime
