Burnett trip to San Diego

Last week my dad flew all of us out to San Diego for a long weekend!

Two of my brothers moved out there a few years ago, and my parents and I have gone out a couple times since then, but this was the first time the whole family has been there together. It’s not my favorite place ever, mostly because I’m always so stressed about what to wear HA! It’s never hot and never cold. Always a weird spring-ish temperature. But nonetheless, very cool city to explore for a weekend!

While my other brothers shacked up at my brothers’ places, my parents, Drew and I stayed at the Mission Bay Resort. Super nice and there’s an adorable restaurant on the property overlooking the marina that we had breakfast at every morning.

Our first day there we met at sunset cliffs to walk around and see the sea lions before heading to lunch at Dukes La Jolla - one of my favorite restaurants of all time! There’s also one on Oahu that my mom and I went to when we took our girls trip to Hawaii in 2016. Afterwards we headed to Mount Soledad, which was just breathtaking, and finished the night with dinner at Mitch’s Seafood on the marina in Point Loma. I probably wouldn’t recommend going there with as big a group as we did, because it is so small, but if it’s just a few of you it’s a cool place! And the servings were massive lol.

The next day after breakfast we drove across the bridge onto Coronado island and spent the day at the beach! We brought frisbees and the boys surfed all day. Not ideal circumstances for me personally because the wind really picked up and there was sand * all over * my feeding tubes, but it was a great way to spend an october day! We also got to venture around Hotel Del Coronado and Drew and I immediately added it to our bucket list for trips- it was STUNNING!

Our last dinner of the trip my dad took everyone to The Chart House, which is a forever favorite for my mom & dad- they always go to Chart Houses when they’re nearby. They’re always on the water and have huge open windows- the one in San Diego actually does’t have walls on the back of the building so there’s a natural breeze! Probably my least favorite part of the trip since it’s basically just a three hour meal, but the sherry temple’s were amazing and my dress that night was so good!

Sunday morning we caught out flight, but on the way to the airport we went by Dog Beach to watch all the dogs chasing the surfers through the water. SO cool!

Until next fall, California.. back to my true love- the east coast.

LOVE,

Jaime
